Made concrete blocks one by one with a mold, using sand from the Patuxent River beaches. In 1913, began making cement blocks for construction of old St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Pearson -first building in St. Mary's County made of concrete blocks. Active in farming until he retired and moved to Baltimore in 1945. He did construction work in county, built a Catholic school and rectory in Great Mills, Maryland, in 1937; and through the years constructed a number of homes and farm buildings in Southern Maryland.
