In 1869, the Perry County Court of Common Pleas gave custody of John Liddick and Lydia's children to John C. McGinness, Esq., because Lydia had given birth to children out of wedlock. James Lowe was the father of these children. Lydia and James Lowe were married Oct 1872 by John Gorman, Esq. James was also a veteran of the Civil War.

Mrs. Lydia Lowe died at her home in Watts township where she had been a life long resident was buried in the Hill cemetery Sunday. Rev. McKinney of the U.B. Church of which she was a member officiating.
