Born: About 1874 Creston, Iowa Died: 1962 Buried: Maple Hill Cemetery, College Springs, Iowa From obituary: College Springs lost their oldest citizen Monday afternoon when Mrs. George Whipp, 88, known to many as Nettie J. passed away at the Pugh Nursing Home in Clarinda following her second stroke. Mrs. Whipp suffered her first stroke in July and was taken to the Municipal Hospital, later being moved to the nursing home where she had been Cared for since. She is survived by four children: Lloyd of Lenox; Mrs. Clark (Ruth) Perry of College Springs; Mrs. N. J. (Christina) Russell of Blanchard; Leland of Omaha; and one brother, J. D. Loudon of Clarinda. Her husband, George, passed away in 1954. Memorial services were held Wednesday at the Methodist Church in College Springs, with the Rev. C. R. Kitz in charge. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery at south edge of College Springs, the casket being Carried by Forrest Whipp, Donald Duncan, H. Geddes Stanway and Robert Koppes. Walker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The Whipp home had been west of College Springs until Mr. Whipp died in 1945, after which Mrs. Whipp had her home in south College Springs. Mrs. Whipp was born in Creston but lived most of her life in Amity Township. She was a staunch Red Cross worker in days of World War I and active in church affairs.
