Birth Date: 12 Feb 1797 Birth Place: Pa Death Date: 1881 Burial Place: Northville Fairview Cemetery, Fenton, MI Notes: Believe this the Thomas of Conesus, Livingston county, NY. deeded to Mary Marshall of Greece Monroe Co. 3 acres 30 rds of land dated Nov 10, 1829 witnessed by William Lowden and Barzilla Nash some confirmation of this belief this would be the Thomas of some of the later letters In an April 21 1878 letter he says "It is about 60 years since your husband's father and myself broke ground on the farm on which you now reside" Grace Witty commented "This farm was on the north side of Long Pond in the town of Greece, Monroe County, N.Y." Grace Witty in a letter to Jean Lowden says that there was a legend in the family that Thomas Lowden would walk from Long Pond to Waterloo in one day, a distance of about 55 miles GW quotes a letter , presumably from Thomas to Mrs. John M. Lowden, Glass River, Shiawassee County Michigan dated Aug 15, 1872 (Mrs. McDonnell's father said this was now Bancroft, between Morrice and Durand]. left Rochester at 6.30 P.M., arrived Windsor 7.30 A.M. left Detroit 8.10 A.M. arrived Fowlerville 10.45 A. M. Fortunate to get a ride within a mile of home, which he walked. Went to see his horses who seemed very pleased to see him. A letter date Sept 8, 1872 Apparently Jean Lowden had a death certificate for him that gave his death place as Mundy Twp. and his mother Sarah In some letter he had said his daughter lived 7 miles northwest of Fentonville There is a Department of the Interior questionnaire dated Jan 15 1898 giving information about his family, certificate # 468776 Thomas Lowden in Grand Blanc twp, Genesee Co. with wife Elizabeth. He was born about 1797 in PA, father to James K, and son of John. Spouse: Elizabeth King Birth Place: PA Burial Place: Northville Fairview Cemetery, Fenton, MI |
