tax roll 1774 , 1775, 1789 Greenwood, Pennsylvania

In 1788 not in militia but living near junction of Juanita and Susquehanna Rivers where he helped to defend the frontier and provide refuge for neighbors. He is believed to have a block house near a fort and often had refugees staying with him.

We found an indication that William had come over from Lancaster County to Greenwood. There were two Lowden's noted in Lancaster County, James who died 1744, and Richard who died 1745. -GW

Apparently a William Lowden mentioned in testate records of Lancaster County in 1741 and James in 1741 and 1760

CC 973.801 J959 Vol. 1-2 Juanita Valley by Jorden, page 200 lists Wm Lowden on 1768 assessment in Greenwood Township; states he was a pioneer of Greenwood Township, later Buffalo(1799)
